Infant Pillows made of 100% Organic Buckwheat Hulls imported from Netherlands

What are buckwheat hulls?

Buckwheat is a type of fruit. The seeds are pointed, triangular to nearly round in cross section, its color varies from brown to dark brown. It consists of an outer layer called the hull. Buckwheat hulls are the husks that protect the buckwheat kernel from the elements of nature. The hulls consist of three curved sections which look like a pyramid when they are still on the fruit. One or more of the curved sections will separate out when the fruit is taken out. The buckwheat hulls are carefully cleaned from dust and foreign particles and they are environmental friendly & excellent for pillow stuffing.

Why are Buckwheat pillow good for infants and toddlers?

  • Babies are proned to be frightened by sudden movements and noises caused by the surroundings. Therefore, this pillow is laid on their chests to give the babies a sense of security, as they will feel that they are being cuddled in their mummy’s arm or even in the womb. This pillow also acts as cushioning from loud noises and movements.

  • Buckwheat hulls allow the pillow to be shaped easily by hand to suit your preferences, therefore it is highly convienient for parents to bring it along during baby's day out.

  • Buckwheat pillows actually attract far fewer dust mites than other types of pillows since the hulls are inedible.

  • Buckwheat hulls provide good air circulation to help keep babies cool on hot humid nights, and you dun have to worry about suffocation.

Caring for your Buckwheat pillows.

Try to keep a regular pillowcase on your pillow. The pillowcase should be washed regularly, but do not wash the pillow. The pillow should be place in sunlight for a few hours once every month or so. We do not recommend washing the hulls because it is impossible to dry soaked buckwheat hulls.

Good quality buckwheat pillows last as long as 10 years. Cheaper types of buckwheat pillows are made out of hulls that are far inferior to the hulls that are grown in the USA and Canada. Inexpensive buckwheat pillows have hulls that are broken and dusty. Good quality hulls have been cleaned many times over and 99% dust free. The hulls stay whole and do not compress - it is part of their structure - and that is why the pillows last as long as they do.
